"This topology was invented by Steen Duelund"Ah-hm, ring radiators where not invented or even re-invented by the Steen Duelund dude, just copied. JBL used the priciple 40 years prior to that in: 2402-2403-2404-2405 and Fostex have been using them al...

I wish I could stop the US government from selling AK47s in any corner shop in the US. If you give a monkey a gun, most probably he will shoot himself. If you give a monkey an AK47, well that is different. He will take anything he wants and few thi...

[quote user="Horn Savant"]Before experimenting with the Hi power Electrostatic module, I used 416's in my large corner horn. They sounded extraordinary (ran with inf baffle to basementand made me realize how much Altec/JBL enclosures suck with their ...

Hello Macman,Nice horns, I like that you finished everything properly! I am getting tired of seeing piles of horns.I think the ringing you are getting from your midbass horn is that the throat reactance is not balanced. How did you calculate the ba...

[quote user="Romy the Cat"]atilsley169, I would ditch your request to define term high-end. I think you might do it for yourself if the defining of the term is important to you. Your second question however is very interesting. You ask if the purchas...

The picture shows a JBL 2446. It shows where one attaches a horn. The exit hole in the center of the driver is about 2 inches deep and 2 inches in diameter. Is that hole part of the throat chamber or does it count towards the first 2 inches of ...

[quote user="Romy the Cat"]So, I guess you do not measure flux if are getting. You might measure sensitivity and we might presume what when perm magnets has the same sensitivity as electromagnets then the drivers have the same magnetic flux density. ...

My humble guess is that the titanium diaphragm won't ever give you the feeling you seek.JBL 2482 with its phenolic diaphragm may not be the quickest or most detailed, but has a truly wonderful tone that I never tire of....

A somehow-related thing is "texture", and - of course - what we want is the "availability" of a range of musically relevant textures rather than textural "overlay". The S2 and the Altec 808 had this potential, but I never heard it from the JBL 375, ...

I asked my Japanese speaking friend to translate for me the information about the tweeter in that Brazilian installation. It is JBL UT-045Be, I never have seen/heard it, and so I presume many others… 25mm beryllium spherical diaphragm, 52mm circ...

This is helpful, Romy. Another question - is JBL 2446H a decent driver to try? Also - just to get an idea - how much can I expect to pay for custom horns?...

Maybe you could "turn in ceiling " and use a Avantgarde Duo configuration for your 200- 1000 Hz horn ? I read a lot of good things about B&C 8PE21 8" driver in that range (John Hasquin -not sure if I pronunced the name right ) it can be ordered a...

[quote user="homebuilder"]I am new to this interesting site, and am hopeful of getting some assistance with a project. I have purchased a set of TAD 1201 mid-bass drivers to begin a 4-way active system for critical home listening. (in a d...

JBL developed the PT-Waveguides not only because they are easier to produce. They also have less harmonic distortion than biradial horns. Disadvantage: They look far less funky....

In terms of the length of the horn, I'm allowing myself a total height of 7'6" (just below the average ceiling height of 8'). In regards to the mouth diameter, that's another matter. (It appears that I will have to build two [2] different...

I wanted to answer some questions posed by interested parties. These speakers are 8 ohm and were both manufactured on the same date in 1998.
Though I am not a regular visitor here on the Good Sound Club I am a routine contributor on the Klipsch...

Marchand doe crossovers not EQ and his crossovers are not so good sonically BTW, but I do not like even the idea of active crossovers anyhow. It is obvious that 2105/LE5 is not so simple driver to begin with but searching for “straighter” driver is e...

Looked at the JBL driver again. Seems that the two diaphragms are identical. A funny way to get around the BMS patent....

A happy new year to all,,,,Your electricle mains box is most impressive,,But keep your fingers out of there..Or you will have a "short" year...I love the JBL Array 1400 Hard to beat,,unless you have EverestII.....

Hi Roman! So, an SG-37FRP finally dropped on yr. laps;-) - glad it happened: not because you're now part of an Olympus-like lobby, but because you'll be able to judge with yr. own ears, much, MUCH better than theorically speculating on this or that......

I think guessing what the hell they did with tweeters would make since if whatever they did sound right. Since Living Voice’s is not the company that has a lot of exposure in US I do not think I will ever hear those speakers. Even if they have US rep...

Romy, are you going to verify the decision of using fragile vintage drivers?E.g. by trying JBL midbass drivers? They would be closer to the design philosophy of the Fane Studio 8M.http://www.jblpro.com/components/maxout.htm#2020H...

It is not unusual for famous people to use there name for ENDORSEMENT,,SPORTS MEN HAVE MADE MILLIONS that way.. AMPEX used Frank Senatra..JBL used Benny Goodman...Its easy mony standing next to a product for photo Op and getting paid for it.....

I have to disagree with you here. Until you've heard the bass from a JBL Hartsfield, you haven't heard bass. Best bass I've heard period. I'm curious if the Vitavox is of the same caliber. ...

The box is about 5 cu/ft apperiodic with 3 x Scan Speak vent on the rear panel. Damped with cotton blanket (filling 60% of inside) and braced rather well. The driver is JBL 2220 crossed at 80Hz with 12db slope. All other channels ar...

Greetings,
I may be able to answer some questions regarding crossovers, multi-amping, etc. - without getting bogged down, hopefully, in metaphysical issues.

[quote user="ayebee"]I’m probably suggesting the obvious, but have you tried adjusting the crossover component values on the fundamentals and MF-channels? On the fundamentals-channel, increasing the inductor-value, and decreasing the cap, so that...
